JOB TITLE: TSAL and Employment Readiness Coordinator

Full time: 35 hours/week

In collaboration with the Director General, this person will lead in the planning and coordination of external and internal work placements, the writing and implementation of Individualized Transition Plans and the teaching of life and employment readiness skills


– Minimum of 5 years of experience in education/autism
– Experience in administration
– Experience with employment readiness programs and approaches
– Experience in developing Education plans/programs
– Experience managing projects, leading a team, and supervising others
– Experience in teaching/animating
– Experience creating protocols and action plans, tracking progress and writing formal reports


– DEC in Special Care Counselling and/or Bachelor’s degree (in Education or other relevant field)
– Graduate degree an asset
– Training in various employment readiness techniques and approaches
– CPI training


– Self-confidence to take initiative, instruct others, and work independently
– Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both French and English
– Knowledge of autism essential
– Exceptional knowledge of current and innovative educational and therapeutic approaches in autism
– Knowledge of communication supports and systems for youth with autism
– Ability to guide, coach and supervise others
– Advanced proficiency with standard IT tools
– Effective communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills
– Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team
– Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
– Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills


1. Coordination of external and internal work experience programs

– Find and work with local businesses to provide job-specific training and employment experiences for the students
– Collaborate and instruct employers and their employees to raise awareness on autism and foster relationship building
– Provide training, skill development and employment creation/support
– Promote independence through targeted skill development and experiences designed to build self-esteem and employability
– Providing employment skills assessment, training and coaching
– Support and collaborate with the on-site educator

2. Writing and implementation of Individualized Transition Plans

– Manage multidisciplinary meetings with the student, parents, and transition team
– Actively involve the student in the transition planning process
– Create and finalize transition plans in collaboration with the transition team
– Promote the importance for students to gain an understanding of themselves and their abilities, interests and values
– Encourage parent involvement about their child’s interests, aptitudes, strengths, and goals

3. Teaching life and employment readiness skills

– Develop and implement life skills program for students based on the Academic and Career Guidance Content (ACGC)
– Develop units and lesson plans by following the student program curriculum in collaboration with the classroom teacher
– Teaching and fostering self determination
– Support the students to develop self-advocacy skills

Hours and Salary
This position is a full-time position 35 hours per week (5 days per week). Salary to be determined.
